On the 18th of November 2019 at 19:00 at the Hilton Warsaw Hotel and Convention Centre, the Modern Retail Gala took place, during which statuettes were presented as part of the Modern Retail Awards Competition. The event was attended by almost 300 people, including representatives of Polish and foreign retail chains, government representatives and sector experts.
Winners for 2019:
FOOD & FARMING – Mleczarnia EkoŁukta
Mleczarnia Ekołukta Sp. z o.o. is a small dairy company whose main purpose is to produce certified organic food. Features that make the company stand out from other organic food producers are traditional production methods, ensuring the unique qualities of the products produced and the domestic raw materials, allowing them as one of the few organic dairy processors to mark their products with the POLISH PRODUCT mark.
The award was presented by Tareck Ouaibi, Vice-President of POHiD; Vice-President of the Board, Carrefour Polska, and was received by Robert Saluda, President of the Board, Mleczarni EkoŁukta.
LOCAL PRODUCT – Ami
A Polish family company that is the largest goose producer in Europe and a leader in duck production in Poland. An exporter of processed products, present and valued on the European (Germany’s main partner) and Asian markets for years. Supplier of feathers and down to Japan, among others. Manufacturer of goods marked with the POLISH PRODUCT mark.
The award was presented by Renata Juszkiewicz, Chairwoman of the Competition Jury, President of the Board, POHiD, and was received by the owners, Irena Aksamska and Marek Aksamski.
FOOD PRODUCTION – SM Spomlek
Spółdzielcza Mleczarnia Spomlek from Radzyń Podlaski is one of the largest Polish cheese producers in Poland. Producer of the first cheese with holes called Radamer and the first long-maturing cheese in Poland, called Amber. The owner of the Serenada and Treasures of Serowar brands.
The cheeses created by Radzyń’s cheese makers are made from the highest quality milk, combining tradition and modernity. Spomlek is the leader of Polish cheese-making.
The award was presented by Marcin Langowski, Vice-President of POHiD; Member of the Board, Pepco CEE, and was received by Paweł Gaca, Vice-President of the Board, Spółdzielczej Mleczarni Spomlek w Radzyniu Podlaskim.
START-UP – Synati
Synati – the world’s first completely wireless solution that allows you to keep physical statistics of visits in the Retail sector. It reduces installation costs by 70% and allows you to implement the system in one day, even for a large number of locations.

PAYMENTS – PayPo
PayPo is the leader in deferred payments in Poland. The innovative model that allows customers to flexibly make purchases in the “buy now-pay later” scheme is already used by, among others: Allegro, Media Markt, Decathlon, Leroy Merlin, 4F, Top Secret, Wittchen and over 500 other stores.
The award was presented by Beata Jankowiak, Jeronimo Martins Polska S.A and was received by the owner, Radek Nawrocki.
ECO – Stella Pack
Stella Pack is one of the largest garbage bag manufacturers in Europe and distributors of non-chemical cleaning products. All garbage bags produced in Stella Pack are made of recycled plastic waste. Every month, 2000 tons of plastic waste, instead of going to landfills, goes to our plants, where it is processed into full-fledged garbage bags in all varieties, sizes, and in many colour and fragrance variants. The bags produced in Stella Pack are suitable for recycling after use. The recycling process is carried out in accordance with the principles of a closed loop, in which nothing is wasted.
The award was presented by Tareck Ouaibi, Vice-President of POHiD; Vice-President of the Board Carrefour Polska, and was received by Ewelina Oleszczuk, Marketing Specialist.
ECO DISTINGUISHMENT – Farma Świętokrzyska
Świętokrzyska Farm is an ecological farm with almost 20 years of experience, and at the same time one of the largest Polish companies offering organic vegetables, fruit and the highest quality preserves. It is a recognised and valued ecological brand on the domestic market. As one of the few Polish organic farms, it has the prestigious GlobalG.A.P. Certificate – globally accepted certificate of good agricultural practice ensuring the safety of food production and the environment. It offers its clients over 30 types of eco-vegetables and fruits, as well as over 60 vegan, gluten-free preparations based on proprietary recipes. Świętokrzyska Farm is constantly developing, and its success is due to the care for the highest quality of offered products and fruitful cooperation with retail chains. They supply products to stores throughout the country.

OWN BRAND – Maspex
Maspex is one of the largest companies in the food industry in this part of Europe. The company has over a dozen modern plants in Poland and abroad, employs over 7500 employees and its products reach 60 countries around the world. The offer includes several dozen brands, which are mostly market leaders, including Tymbark, Kubuś, Lubella, Łowicz, Krakus, Kotlin, Puchatek, Ekland, DecoMorreno, Cremona oraz Plusssz.

NON-FOOD PRODUCTION – Befaszczot
For the oldest company in 143 years of operation of the Sheltered Workshop, which invariably produces the same range, reliably fulfilling Corporate Social Responsibility, manifesting itself in deep concern for employed disabled people producing high-quality brushes, rollers and other painting tools, awarded with gold medals from the International Fair and National Show in Poznań in 1929. The company provides its products for retail chains, especially DIY, which is grateful for the partnership attitude in fulfilling its mission of employing disabled people, making the world better for them.
The award was presented by Marcin Langowski, Vice-President, POHiD; Member of the Board, Pepco CEE, and was received by Jan Bierówka, President of the Board, Befaszczot.
NON-FOOD PRODUCTION – dr Irena Eris
For the extraordinary ability to do business while respecting family traditions in a spirit of modernity. For boldly looking into the future and guarding the highest standards of business ethics. For building the image of strong Polish brands outside of Poland.
The award was presented by Małgorzata Piekarska, Brand, Customer and Digital Director, Auchan, and was received by Henryk Orfinger and Irena Eris, Co-Owners, Dr Irena Eris SA.
SUPPLY CHAIN & LOGISTICS – CHEP Polska
The innovative Q+ pallet, i.e. the CHEP quarter plastic pallet, is the result of a dialogue between all participants in the supply chain, thanks to which it responds equally to the needs of producers and trade networks, as well as companies from the packaging or transport industries. Q+ goes far beyond the logistic use of a pallet: it increases sales and brand recognition by providing better visibility and availability of products at the point of sale. Designed in accordance with the concepts of a Zero Waste World and the Circular Economy, the CHEP quarter pallet is carbon neutral, creating an indispensable part of a sustainable supply chain.

RETAIL TECH AWARD – ZenCard
ZenCard, a capital company of PKO Bank Polski S.A., is the first technology that allows retail chains to link their loyalty programs with payment cards of any bank. Already when making payments, the system allows you to sign up for a loyalty program, collecting customer consent (ensuring compliance with GDPR) directly at payment terminals. ZenCard also provides the ability to analyze card transaction data, examining customer behaviour and performing automatic segmentation. The system offers a mobile application for consumers and full integration with cash register, CRM and e-commerce systems for retail chains.
